DeKalb Central elects in May, partly to beef up voter turnout and partly on the theory that the typical lack of hotly-contested primary races (The 2002 GOP sheriff's race was an exception!) lets voters focus more directly on the school races.

You're not alone. The election scheme for the DeKalb Central board seems deliberately designed to put voters in the dark about their election choices.

Adopted in 1964, the DeKalb Central election plan calls for electing four members from "residence" districts and one member at large. The residence districts are:
