Where are the morals in this school? Surely not in the athletics depatment were you can be a proven adulterer and still be around our children as a role model. As you've probably guessed I am talking about girls basketball. The biggest problem with the team is the supposed coach. When someone has problems like his and takes it out on the girls there needs to be something done. He shouldn't be coaching in the first place. What's with the powers that be? Get rid of the dead weight.

Indiana gives local school districts the option of electing their school boards at primary election time in May or at the general election in November. DeKalb Central elects in May, partly to beef up voter turnout and partly on the theory that the typical lack of hotly-contested primary races (The 2002 GOP sheriff's race was an exception!) lets voters focus more directly on the school races.

One argument against this is that many voters don't know that they can vote in the school...

A friend's daughter, who is a freshman at DeKalb High School, said she was bothered when she found the remains of a dissected cat in a wastebasket in a biology lab. I had not previously known that dissecting cats was part of the DeKalb biology curriculum. I took high school biology in the 1960s and dissected frogs, fish and crawdads. I helped some pre-med friends dissect a small shark on the roof of Willkie South when I was an undergrad at IU. None of that bothered me. (In fact, I can still...
